Eco-Friendly Printing

American Litho’s responsible paper sourcing practices have earned us the Forest Stewardship Council's (FSC) Chain-of-Custody Certification. This certification guarantees that products printed on nearly all of our house stocks come from well-managed forests adhering to strict environmental and socio-economic standards. As a result, American Litho, our paper suppliers, and our customers play a vital role in helping to ensure the health of the world's forests for future generations.

At American Litho, we also strive for environmental responsibility throughout the rest of our production process as well. Here are some examples:

  • Vegetable-based inks. In addition to being environmentally friendly, these inks, primarily soy, produce bright, high-quality images.
  • Biodegradable packing materials. We have said goodbye to annoying, environmentally damaging materials in our packaging, such as petroleum-based foam "peanuts."
  • Water-based aqueous coating. Providing a high-gloss surface that deters dirt and fingerprints, our aqueous coatings are friendlier to the environment than UV coatings.
  • Waste reduction on the pressroom floor. By using top-grade paper with highly-trained press operators, we have considerably reduced the number of test or "make-ready" sheets needed to run through the presses as we set up your printing project.
